Cities have always focused, as if through a lens, on the problems of their inhabitants. Cities have been facing many of them for centuries. Some – such as environmental and infrastructure degradation, depopulation of city centers, social polarization – are more recent. The heritage and culture resources of historic cities, on the one hand, constitute a potential that can support them in facing challenges, but on the other hand, they may constitute an additional burden for them.

The aim of the project is to conduct an interdisciplinary analysis of processes and changes taking place (past and present) in cities facing crises, problems and challenges related to, among others, with natural disasters, migrations, economic and social crises, climate change, as well as spatial planning and the aesthetics of urban space, as well as determining the impact of the actions taken on building the resilience of cities in the future.
