Kolegium Gospodarki i Administracji Publicznej UEK

The research project is a continuation of the analysis of urbanization processes and is also an extension of previous studies devoted to the broadly understood issues of Krakow’s metropolitan functions. The issue of urbanization has been one of the basic research areas since the beginning of the Department of Economic and Social History. This necessitates an interdisciplinary approach. In the research conducted by the Department’s team, the city is understood as both a process and an idea, function and form. Research work carried out in this way requires looking at the phenomenon of urbanization in a long historical perspective. Adopting such a methodology allows for examining the interconnection of contemporary phenomena that determine the development of cities, taking into account their cultural heritage resources. The particular area of interest of the Department’s research team is: Kraków, Galicia and Central Europe.
