Development as a multi-aspect process: social, economic and cultural determinants of territory development

The project is an extension of the analysis of regional development conditions, which is why the authors’ intention is to identify factors responsible for the development of the broadly understood “territory”. The aim of the project is to diagnose development as a process taking place not only in successive, chronologically ordered stages, but also as a sequence of changes with multiple determinants: social, economic, cultural. The social aspect allows us to focus attention on the role of social and human capital; the economic layer involves material indicators, while the cultural area encourages the inclusion of imponderables in the analysis – the area of norms, symbols and valuations that cannot be directly captured. The diagnosis of the development process will also include the territorial context, which will allow for the isolation of more detailed topics and discussion of development issues in specific contexts: contemporary technological innovations, sustainable development, protected areas, urbanization process.
