Innovation of the Russian economy and Russia’s international policy in the second decade of the 21st century

The aim of the project was to analyze the feedback between the innovative potential of the Russian economy and the foreign policy of the Russian Federation. The project was intended to answer the question whether innovative potential determines Russia’s foreign policy and in what aspect, or whether certain innovative sectors of the Russian economy serve the goals of this country’s foreign policy. The project was also intended to answer questions about possible directions of development of Russia’s relations with key international partners. By combining quantitative and qualitative methods, the authors tried to critically assess the goals of Russia’s international policy and the possibilities of their implementation. The authors referred to the theory of International Political Economy, international relations and foreign policy analysis. The innovativeness of the project consisted in combining a variety of research methods and techniques and factors shaping the state’s foreign policy, in particular rarely analyzed economic factors and innovation.
