The Dean is tasked primarily with the management of research activities within the discipline or disciplines for which the College was created and the coordination of the organizational activities of the Institutes operating within the College. The Dean formulates and implements the policy for the development of a discipline or scientific disciplines practiced within the College and the development of the scientific staff of the College. The Dean assures strategic control in the area of research discipline or disciplines practiced within the College in the context of the adopted strategy of the University and oversees the outcomes of research activities within the discipline and manages preparation for Research Assessment Exercises (4-year Ministry evaluations). The Dean is also the Head of the College Council, responsible for convening and chairing the meetings of the College Council.

The Dean has the right to participate in meetings of the Senate in an advisory capacity, without the  right to participate in votes, unless s/he is a member of the Senate; applying to the Rector for changes in organizational regulations in order to create, transform, merge, divide or liquidate units operating within a given College and inter-collegial units, together with the Deans of the respective Colleges.
